First Visit, Lago Giuseppe Vineyard
I would like to describe for you my first visit with Lago Giuseppe Vineyard. Located along the Highway 46 Wine Trail in Templeton, Ca is a winery named Lago Giuseppe Vineyard. A friend told me recently to go there, and try their signature Italian wines. So, off I went for a wine tasting visit. I found the grounds to be extraordinary! A nice breeze, a beautiful lake, and friendly Hosts made for a wonderful afternoon. This family owned winery offers tapas style snacks for sale while you taste. They also offer Pizzas cooked on the patio pizza oven. It smelled so good! The people sitting near us ordered the Pizza. They were really quiet while they devoured every morsel!
The Proprietor, Joe asked to sit with us while we tasted. We enjoyed talking with him, and we discovered that we transplants are from the same town in Southern California! Small World! I noticed that they produce a Tempranillo varietal that was not on the tasting list. I am a big fan of this robust grape. Because my heritage is partly Spanish, the wines and food from Spain always interest me. It is normally paired with lamb or a spicy food. No,not a Chili Dog! Something really special like Paella! Yes! I bought a bottle of this wine, and we made a Chorizo and Shrimp Paella to go with it. The dinner and the pairing were perfect. I would recommend this Tempranillo to anyone looking for a bold wine for a meal. With flavors of cedar, leather, tobacco, vanilla, dill, and clove, it will liven up your meal.
